Redola the Red Bud Plant
Redola is a red bud plant. She lives in a lovely green meadow full of lovely plants. So this is her story.
One crisp, fall day Redola was weaving a lovely scarf out of grass when her two friends, Daya the day lily (bees and butterflies are attracted to her because of her colorful petals) and Sarafina the spiderwort came trotting along up to Redola.
“Um…Redola. We actually found a better friend,” Daya said with her hands on her hips.
“Yeah and she is a trumpet vine and her name is Violet,” Sarafina explained.
“Yeah, plus you're too weak and skinny anyway to be our friend,” Daya replied.
“But I'm not weak and skinny. I'm graceful and beautiful and my leaves aren't skinny. They have lots of layers that help me get water and survive,”Redola said in a soothing voice.
“Yeah that's what you think,” Sarafina argued. Then they sashayed away into the thick green blades of grass.
“Maybe I am weak and skinny,” Redola sighed. But she was not angry she just sat there peacefully. Her leaves started to shrivel up because her tubes in her leaf layer did not have water.
“I better go get some water,” Redola sighed.
Then she felt a autumn breeze gush by. She felt lonely. As winter and fall passed Redola was still lonely. The flowers bloomed and the sky turned blue. It was spring! Redola awoke from her deep sleep to find that she had grown!
“WOW!” Redola said with an amazed look on her face.Redola had grown into a bold red bud tree! “Well Sarafina and Daya may think I'm skinny and weak but they'll see when they see me compared to them,”
Then Sarafina and Daya came walking up to Redola.
“Holy day lilies,” Daya cried.
“We were wrong about you, will you be our friend again?” Sarafina said.
