Holly Hawkins
The Queen of Hollyhock Hall
A story about a young Hollyhock
Holly Hawkins isn’t your average teenage hollyhock. But she sort of lives a normal life.
One day Holly asked her mom, “Why am I not growing?”
“I don’t know.”
“Mom I know you're lying about something…”
“Nope! Fine you caught me. So, when you were a baby the giant talking things built a canopy over us, nobody knew, but you and I. Holly, you need sun in order to grow and be the tallest of them so you can rule.” Frightfully said Holly's mother.
“I need carbon dioxide & energy from the sun in order to get bigger? Mom we need to take the canopy down!” Holly grinned.
“Why can’t you just be patient?”
“ Cause I wanna GROW!” Holly burst into tears. She sobbed, “ I’ll ne-ne-ne-nev-never be QUEEN!”
Holly’s mother tried to comfort her by saying, “Sorry, maybe I was to hard on you. I just lost my temper. As you can see I’m very very sorry and I may or may not have bought you a gift for xlamicano!” Xlamicano is
“Ohhhhhhhhhhh! Yeah! Can I open it?”
“You bet!”
Holly starts tearing her xlamicano present open. You could feel the joy of the xlamicano present. Holly yelped with excitement, her gift was a very expensive…
SEWING MACHINE! Holly started crying tears of joy. She was just too happy
{that doesn’t really exist!} and she wished she could share it with her father, but her father passed away almost 6 years ago.
“When will you teach me how to sew?”
“Tonight after we eat dinner, which is…..”
“Pizza?”
“Pizza!”
“When can we eat? Because I’m starving!”
“Me too!”
“And we can eat…..”
“Now!”
The next morning, even though Holly’s mom cheered her up, Holly was still dying. Holly’s mother rushed her to the Sahara Sun Hospital for plants who need sun. The canopy was preventing rain, sunlight and if she didn’t get water from the soil Holly will die.
The doctors told Ms.Hawkins, “Holly’s stem isn’t growing so the stem won't be able to bend toward the sun's light. This behavior helps the leaves get as much sunlight as possible.”
Finally, Holly was safe to go home, but Holly still needed to have sun treatments. Holly’s roots had started dying which meant the tiny hairs on them couldn’t get water or mineral nutrients. Holly was a dream maker because after two weeks
{14 days} “the giant talking thingys” {as Hollyhock Hall calls us humans} cut down the canopy and ended the stop plant sickness. Since so many plants were getting sick the plants began collecting money $, asking if plants would sign a petition, putting posters up on walls, and having get togethers at hospitals. The Hollyhocks wanted the canopy down.
Holly received many gifts and cards. Most things were very expensive.
Finally Holly grew big and strong and she became the strongest queen that ever lived. Ten years later Holly was married to a man named Hock leaf and holly became Holly Journey Leaf. And had three beautiful baby Hollyhocks named Holly Journey Leaf Jr.,Hock George Leaf Jr., and Hawkins Dream Leaf.
