Find a Friend Susey Sora
“Weeeeeeee-aaaaaaaaaa-Help! Help! Help!” Susey yelled. Plop! “Wow! That hurt! I don’t believe that I should ever recover!”
Susey was deep in a forest. In the middle of the forest was a garden called Xureet (the X is silent. You say it like this YOUR-reet). It was a undisturbed garden because no humans had been there in 600 years.
“Maybe,” Susey Sora told herself. “Maybe if I walk around then I will see someone or something that will cheer me up.”
Susey walked around for awhile and saw towering pretty plants like some red bud trees and some trumpet vines and some wheat too. There was also blades of grass and last, but not least, there were the lamb’s ear plants!
“Oh, who am I kidding? I will never cheer up,” she said to herself sadly.” I’m the only one in the world,” she sang very sadly. ”The only one in the world. J-u-s-t.Just a lonely strawberry. No one ever cared or cares about me. When I think about a family it just makes me sad because everyone else ha-”
“Aaaaaaahoohoohooooo! Auchy! Where is Mommy? Daddy? Where are you? Aweeeeeeeeeeeee!“ Sumy SoSo cried.
“Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” Susey whispered fiercely.
“Why should I listenn to you?You aren't mommy OR daddy!” Sumy said between sobs.
“I know, I know. We don’t have mommys or daddys. We have to survive on our own. We are called strawberries. By the way…”
“Sumy SoSo is my name!” Sumy said proudly.
“Well Sumy, is your system and leaves ok? They look a bit damaged!”
“Look damaged, feel fine!” Sumy SoSo said suddenly energetically happy!
“Is your knee ok? It looks like it hurts.” Susey said to Sumy.
“Well it's not exactly ‘OK’ but it doesn't exactly ‘HURT’ right now.” Sumy said as she pinged. She looked around at the new world she saw. (She thought it was a new world)
“Do your strawberry leaves have enough water and carbon dioxide? They look a bit brown and like they will die You should really go hook back up and wait for a while. The veins in your hair are not keeping enough water and carbon dioxide. If you don’t have enough than you could die sooner. I bet you want to live Sumy. You surely want to survive. Don’t you?”
“Oh yes, I want to survive as long as I’m with you! I WILL go get more water and carbon dioxide. Thank you Susey, thank you! The roots will carry it to the stem that will give it to my veins that will give it to my leaves and I will have bright green leafs and I will live long! I would never have survived without you! Also, my root hairs will suck up my water and carbon dioxide from the soil!” Sumy said in a rush.
“Wow Sumy! You really listened in science class. I’m impressed!” Susey said in awe.
“My leaves made of 4 pads. The trichomes or hair protects my leaf because it keeps it from drying out. And other layers keeps them from dieing. One of the layers helps me produce food so I can stay alive and the last layer carries my water to my leaves. It’s my veins! They also take my food to other parts of me,” Sumy told Susey.
“I’m speechless! That was amazing! I think that you should enjoy life now, my science friend,” Susey told Sumy!
“OK!” Sumy said in a humph. Then she realized she, Sumy SoSo, was finally free at last. She could go wherever she liked! As soon as Sumy realized she was free, the grass got greener than it had gotten in 50 years when the island made in onto the map of 1950 and the island got a name that year, too.
Later they decided to get more fresh air.
“Dong do do mraa map,” sang Sumy.
“Ding dong do la me re,” responded Susey.
“Da do dooo fa fle loo,” whisper sang the two in harmony, because they were shy.
“We do the greatest songs together, Sumy SoSo!”, Susey told her friend
“Nananananananana, Nananananana, Nanananananana Sing- K- La- Sa! Nananananananana, Nananananana, Nanananananana Sing- K- La- Sa!” they sang together and walked off into the sunset and hand-in-hand smiling because they knew they weren't the only ones in the world.
